Frequently Asked Questions
Counseling sessions are 45 to 60 minutes in length. For some treatments, such as EMDR or family therapy, your provider may recommend extended sessions. We start all of our clients with weekly sessions because we have learned that this is the most effective way to see results. As you progress through treatment, we may reduce frequency to bi-weekly or monthly sessions based on your needs.
The initial intake appointment is $200 and charged at the time of booking. All ongoing therapy sessions are charged at a rate of $185 per session (up to one hour).
We are an out-of-network provider. This means that we do not sign contracts with insurance companies that would limit our treatment interventions, length of session, or reimbursement. However, we do provide an invoice that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement if you have out of network benefits. Many people have out of network benefits that cover a substantial portion of the cost of therapy. Use the calculator below the FAQ Section to determine your out of network benefits or fee free to give us a call. We are happy to help you understand your benefits, discuss with you the advantages of using an out of network provider, and assist you with referral to an in-network provider if needed.
Most people ask for help understanding their benefits. We’re here to help you understand your benefits and payment options. For many people, reimbursement from insurance is substantial. We can discuss payment plans and help you navigate your insurance so you can get the help you need. You will not be in therapy forever- our goal is to help you move forward as quickly as possible. We use assessments and treatment reviews to ensure our services are making a difference. Unlike some therapists, we regularly engage in advanced trainings and consultation to make sure our services are of the highest quality available. Please reach out to us today to get support to understand your insurance benefits, payment options, and what sets us apart as a provider.
This is a very individualized question. After completing an initial assessment during your first visit, your therapist will be able to give you more information about expected length of treatment. You will develop a treatment plan which your provider will review with you and adjust as needed to ensure you are reaching your desired goals.
Absolutely! While we specialize in therapy for parents, all of our providers have worked in a variety of settings serving various populations. We are confident we can help you with anxiety, depression, dysregulated moods, adjustment issues, life transitions, grief, and many other common issues leading individuals to seek therapy. We also have experience providing therapy to adolescents and to couples.
We can provide both in person and telehealth services. You will discuss with your provider what best meets your needs. Many clients choose to do a little of both and we are happy to accommodate!
Please call or email us today and we will set up a brief consult to discuss available providers and payment options. We return all contacts within one business day.
We remain out of network for a few very specific reasons, all of which relate to the quality of treatment we provide.
- Increased Privacy: We are not required to share records with insurance companies to insure payment. All of our records are held to the highest standards of privacy.
- Specialized Trainings: All of our clinicians have engaged in post-graduate training in various specialties. The cost and time commitment for these trainings is extensive. Because of this, we cannot accept the lowered “contracted rate” that insurance companies mental health clinicians.
- Patient Care: Most therapists that accept insurance need to see a minimum of 25-30 clients per week to make ends meet. Many therapists are seeing 35+ clients per week. Our therapists see fewer than 20 clients per week and focus their attention on your needs. We have time for between-session research, training, and consultation. We have time to return all initial consult calls directly, rather than relying on a receptionist. We think this patient care is incredibly valuable and we aren’t willing to sacrifice the quality of care. We also value the mental health and well-being of our clinical staff. We know how stressful large caseloads can be and we know the quality of care declines as the clinician’s stress increases. That’s why we make it a priority to limit caseload size, take good care of our staff, and ensure your mental health needs are being met.
